3D Computer Graphics

2013

When I started this project I had no experience with 3DS Max and wasn't being formally taught how to use the program. I basically learned the program as I usually do by clicking around aimlessly and using what I knew from Carrara, a more user oriented 3D program I toyed around with a couple years back, to try to comprehend what I was doing. This took a lot longer than it would likely take me now but it was a great learning experience and I am rather pleased with the results. As you can see from the still rendering I even played around with depth of field to make it look small. This was too stagnant so I ended up putting him in another scene as well which is the next item in this portfolio.

Lego Fall and Legs Model
2013

This is part of my first 3DS max design, I gave him a different face to make him look alive and put him in a more animated looking position and scene. It was also a good way for me to showcase the detail I put into all the parts; namely the hands and the legs. I learned how useful the ProBoolean tool was with the legs and I'm most proud of them because I finally knew what I was doing.

Martini Glasses
2013

This is part of one of my first actual 3DS class assignments. We were instructed to make a goblet just to learn the lathe tool but I took it upon myself on my free time to make a martini scene. It was harder to make refractive materials than it was in Carrara but once I figured all the details out I rather enjoyed the results.

Dream House
2013

We were instructed to build a house using 3DS Max, so I decided to build my dream house which I've had in my head for years. Unfortunately, my instructor David Dillon died of an athsma attack and the assignment was never completed when the new teacher took over. I am so gratetful, though, for Mr Dillon and his support. He cared very much an wanted to see me succeed and went above and beyond to help me when I was working beyond the scope of the class.

Mannequin Head
2013

When the new 3DS instructor came in he gave us a final project, to make a bat,a room, and a head using this Joan of Ark tutorial.

Keyper
2011

This was part of a group project to advertise my product (1 of 4 to win in the class) the Keyper. I wanted a good representation of it to put in ads so I created this.
